About Moi

From 2009: I know what you’re thinking. What could possibly go wrong when a girl born and raised in the suburban Midwest moves to the City That Never Sleeps for the summer to work. Answer: a lot, and you can read about my misadventures here.

I’m a Missouri journalism student who is packing up for a few months to live and work in New York. This mostly involves taking a class at the New School taught by one of our professors (which is going to be an adventure in itself) and working at two publications. It’s going to be a busy summer. Hopefully, it will be a good one.

Present day: I started this blog in May 2009 in order to chronicle a summer spent in New York City. It was a lovely three months, and I made a promise to myself to move back one day. Two years later, I accepted a job offer at NYC’s alternative weekly, packed what I could into two suitcases, booked a flight, and left St. Louis to start my career in journalism. This is a record of my life on the East Coast.
